Andhra Loyola Institute of Engineering and Technology – ALIET organised an International Symposium on Goal Setting on 6th January 2025. The event highlighted nine distinguished international speakers from Florida: Larry, Holly, Sabrina, Jim, Carla, Emily, Karen, Patrick, and Fr. Raju, who graced the inaugural ceremony with their presence.
The keynote speaker, Professor Larry, a renowned expert in Electrical and Electronics Engineering with a PhD from Michigan University, delivered an inspiring talk on the significance of goal setting. Drawing from his extensive personal and professional experiences, he emphasized the importance of setting goals that cater to all dimensions of life - physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual. He remarked, "Setting goals is not just about achieving something external; it’s about aligning your internal compass to live a life of purpose and fulfilment." Professor Larry elaborated further, " Effective goal setting begins with understanding your own needs. To achieve greatness, one must first balance the mind, body, and spirit. Each pillar must be nurtured for long-term success and personal growth." His speech inspired students to adopt a holistic approach to goal setting, urging them to pursue objectives that go beyond academics or professional aspirations and foster well-rounded personal development. He concluded with the thought-provoking message: "True success is not measured by the accolades we collect, but by the growth we experience as individuals and the impact we have on those around us."
Sabrina, another distinguished speaker from Florida, also shared valuable insights on the topic, encouraging students to broaden their horizons and prepare for a brighter future.
Rev. Fr. Dr. B. Joji Reddy, S.J., Secretary and Director of ALIET, formally welcomed the international speakers and shared his perspective on the significance of the symposium. He emphasized:
"This symposium serves as a bridge between knowledge and application, providing students with a unique opportunity to engage with global thought leaders and expand their horizons."
Fr. Joji's dynamic leadership and untiring support for staff and students were instrumental in bringing this event to fruition, ensuring that ALIET students received an enriching international exposure.
The symposium witnessed active participation from members of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and a large audience of students. The exchange of ideas and knowledge between international experts and attendees was a key highlight, fostering academic excellence and holistic personal growth.
