On 23rd April 2025, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of ALIET celebrated Shakespeare’s Birthday, English Language Day, and World Book Day with enthusiasm and literary spirit. The event featured Ms. Elisa Piscitelli from Italy - MIT alumna and CEO of the EduTech company Futurely - as the chief guest. In her inspiring address, she explored how Shakespeare captured the complexities of human nature, blending emotion, intellect, and timeless themes such as love, justice, courage, and desire. She reflected on the significance of Venice in The Merchant of Venice and Othello, and how these plays continue to resonate with our lives today. Quoting Hamlet, she reminded the audience that reality is greater than our imagination, urging everyone to embrace life with openness, empathy, and purpose.
Dr. O. Mahesh, Principal of ALIET, also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance and relevance of the English language in today’s world. He reminded engineering students that strong communication skills are vital for academic and professional success, and that language connects us to ideas, innovation, and global opportunities.
The celebration also featured vibrant performances by students who enacted scenes from three of Shakespeare’s renowned plays: The Merchant of Venice, King Lear, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Their captivating portrayals brought Shakespeare’s timeless characters and themes to life, showcasing the creativity and talent within the ALIET student community.

Joji Reddy ,S.J Director and Secretary of ALIET expressed heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Ms. Elisa Piscitelli for her timely inspiration and for sharing the wisdom and cultural richness of Venice.
